From a shaded courtyard to the open water

The hotel occupies a corner of Marina Village at Gate 5, Marina El Alamein, where the streets are quiet enough to hear water moving in the fountains. Walking in from the gate, you pass gardens and planted shade before the building itself appears, which is why the property feels considerably calmer than its distance from the coast road would suggest.

Balconies look out in different directions depending on where your room sits. Some face the swimming pool and catch the noise of the afternoon; others turn towards the courtyard and the fountains, and a number look across the lake, which is where guests tend to end up with a coffee before anyone else is awake. None of the outlooks are identical, so the view is worth mentioning when you reserve.

Practically, this is a straightforward base for a North Coast holiday rather than a resort that asks you to stay inside it. The front desk runs around the clock, Wi-Fi is free throughout the property, parking is free and on site with no reservation needed, and housekeeping comes through daily. Families settle in easily because the layout keeps children within sight of the courtyard and the pool terrace.

One featured room, with three more on the rooms page

Every room in the hotel shares the same essentials: air conditioning, a private bathroom with a shower, a balcony, a flat-screen television with satellite channels, tea and coffee facilities, and daily housekeeping. What changes between them is space, bed configuration and what you see when you open the balcony door. One of the four is described here, and the rooms page carries the rest in full.

Deluxe Double Room interior with king bed

Deluxe Double Room

The Deluxe Double Room is arranged around one king bed and works equally well for a couple on a long weekend or a single traveller staying through the week. Air conditioning runs through the afternoon heat, the private bathroom has a shower, towels, linens, slippers, a bathrobe and a hairdryer, and the balcony gives you somewhere to sit once the sun drops behind the marina buildings.

The pool, the beach and the shade in between

The outdoor swimming pool runs seasonally rather than year-round, and according to the property information it is reserved for adults, which keeps it unusually quiet in the middle of the day. Beyond the pool terrace there is a private beach area laid out with chairs, loungers and umbrellas, plus a separate private beach area for women who prefer their own stretch of sand.

Between swims, the garden and terrace do most of the work. Outdoor furniture is set out under planting that holds its shade through the afternoon, which is where families tend to regroup while towels dry and someone goes back up for cold drinks. It is an unhurried part of the property and it never feels programmed.

Because facilities can change with the season, anything essential to your trip is worth confirming with the front desk before you arrive rather than on the day.

Restaurant terrace tables set beside the illuminated fountain pool

There is one restaurant on the property, and it is deliberately unfussy: somewhere to sit down properly at the end of a day spent between the pool and the beach, without having to leave Marina Village to find a table. Breakfast is available and can be served in your room, which suits guests travelling with small children or anyone who would rather not dress for the dining room before nine.

Room service runs beyond breakfast, so a late meal after a long drive from Cairo or Alexandria does not have to mean going out again. Every room is fitted with tea and coffee facilities and an electric kettle, which sounds minor until the second morning, when the ability to make coffee on your own balcony becomes the reason you booked a balcony at all.

When the weather is kind, the garden and terrace give you an alternative to both the room and the restaurant, with outdoor seating available where appropriate.

A convenient base on the North Coast

Porto Marina El Alamein beach sits roughly 200 metres from the door and Porto Marina itself is about a mile away, close enough that most guests treat both as walking or short-drive distances rather than excursions. Al Alamayn train station is around five kilometres out, and El Alamein International Airport is about 62 kilometres, with Borg El Arab International Airport a further stretch at roughly 77 kilometres.

All of these distances are approximate and real travel times vary with the season, since the coast road behaves very differently in August than it does in spring. The location page sets out each distance in full alongside directions and a map link.
